Only 1 in 10 Earns $10,000 or More from Social Media

Are you earning money from Social Media?

If you are raise your hand then give yourself a hug, because you represent 1 out of 10 people who are sucessfully marketing themselves or their business with social media.

I find these numbers truly amazing.

My first thought when I read something like this is it's obviously A LOT harder than I thought to really learn all the secrets to social media and make it profit.

Then something happened.

I read an email in my inbox and decided to act. My good friend Leesa Barnes, author of Podcasting for Profit, recently conducted a survey asking business leaders and business owners about their use of social media. She wanted to know how I was using social media. I participated in her survey and then waited to hear the overall results.

When they came in, I was not as surprised so much as horrified. Here's some startling news from the Social Media IQ survey:

- 5 in 10 business leaders spend 2 to 5 hours per week using social media
- 9 in 10 believe social media is somewhat or very important to their business strategy
- Despite their awareness of social media,4 in 10 haven't made any money using social media
- Only 1 in 10 have earned $10,000 or more using social media

I don't know about you, but I'd like to earn an extra $10,000 in my business!

The question is how to do it. There's always more than one way to accomplish something: an easy way and a hard way. Translation....you can do it on your own, make costly mistakes and end 2009 wondering where you went wrong.
